South Sudan: Passing of our colleague Bob

MSF is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our colleague Bob Dingnyang Lam, who worked as a nurse at Pieri PHCC in the Lankien Project, Jonglei State, South Sudan.

Bob tragically lost his life on 28 May 2026 while travelling from Pieri to reunite with his family in Juba. He was fatally shot during an attack on the road.

We are sharing this announcement with some delay, as Bob’s family had been searching for him following the incident. His passing was formally confirmed to MSF only recently by his wife and brother.

Bob had been working with MSF since 2011, serving in various roles over the years, most recently as a nurse in Pieri. Throughout his long service with MSF, Bob was known as a hardworking, committed, and dedicated colleague. He made a significant contribution to patient care and was a valued and respected member of the team.

We extend our deepest condolences to Bob’s family, friends, and all those who knew and worked with him. He will be remembered with respect and gratitude for his commitment and contribution.
